Yesterday I talked about how important it is for a woman to replenish her mind, body and soul.
Today, I would like to focus on what you can do to replenish your body.
How do you refuel? I’m talking about what you physically put into your body as fuel.
Do you eat a healthy breakfast or do you have a large latte and a Danish? Or nothing because you are trying to lose a few pounds?
Do you skip lunch or hit the drive thru or just have another latte?
Is it drive-thru central for dinner too?
Caffeine and sugar will fire you up but the crash can be painful. You can usually add irritation and agitation to the exhaustion that kicks in once the tank starts to get low.
Those quick-fix’s don’t last and are probably doing more harm than good. I am right there with you and I understand. I am a self-professed Diet Coke-a-holic and drive-thru addict. At no time did I ever believe that the quarter pounder with cheese and large fries were “low cal” options but they made me feel better. Then I would crash and need another diet coke to pep me up again. Then my clothes got tighter and I got more irritated with myself and everything and everyone else.
I was trying to run my own business and serve as Executive Director of another. I had too much to do to feel so crappy. I needed to make a change – to think about what I was putting into my body for fuel.
I made an extreme change and cut out my soda, sugar, carbs and processed food cold turkey. That was in the middle of May and I haven’t looked back since. I lost weight, am thinking clearer and am able to focus and get things done. I overhauled the way I replenished.
You don’t need to make an extreme change to how you replenish or to cut out your latte or Danish cold turkey. All you need to do is take one small step.
What if you focus on adding one positive new habit into your daily routine?
Let’s get crazy and say….hmmmm…how about making a conscious effort to drink one 8 oz. glass of water in the morning before you have your coffee? That’s it. You don’t have to cut anything out. Just add water. One glass.
You can Do this! If I can write a blog every day for 31 days, you can drink a little more water. I’ll even do it with you.
Here we go. Replenishing. Tomorrow morning. Water. 8 oz. Be there or be square.
I will post a picture tomorrow in the blog of me and my h2o. I invite you to share your picture too.

Wow! Congratulations on stopping all of that stuff cold turkey, Cathy!
Drinking more water, I like it! I don’t drink coffee, but I’ll start drinking a glass of water in the morning with my breakfast. I switched over to oatmeal a while ago. I love it!
